You can compare plans and enroll during the annual enrollment period
Original Medicare/Parts A & B
Is a health insurance program for people ages 65 plus, and people with certain disabilities including permanent kidney failure. Original Medicare provides you with some coverage but leaves gaps. You’ll need to pay deductibles, copayments, and coinsurance for hospital, medical, and prescription drug expenses.
You can choose from combined medical and prescription drug plans, medical-only plans, or stand-alone prescription drug plan.
Medicare Prescription Drug Plan/Part D
A stand-alone drug plan that adds prescription drug coverage to Original Medicare, some Medicare Cost Plans, some Medicare Private-Fee-For-Service Plans, and Medicare Medical Savings Account Plans
Medicare Supplement (Medigap) Products
Insurance plans which help pay some of the out-of pocket costs not paid by Original Medicare (Parts A and B) such as deductibles and co-insurance amounts for Medicare approved services
Medicare Cost Plan
In a Medicare Cost Plan, you can go to providers both in and out of network. If you get services outside of the plan’s network, your Medicare-covered services will be paid for under Original Medicare, but you will be responsible for Medicare coinsurance and deductibles.
Medicare Advantage Plan
Insurance plan that provides all Original Medicare Part A and Part B health coverage, and sometimes covers Part D prescription drug coverage
A health plan works with a network – a group of doctors, clinics, hospitals and other health care providers you can see for a lower cost. To get the most coverage for a health care service, you need to visit health care providers in your plan's network.
Individual and family plans have geographically-based networks. Only certain providers participate in each network. Some providers are not in a plan's network, and providers in one network may not be in another network. If you visit a provider or a location that's not in your plan's network, you will pay much more for your care, and these costs will not count toward your in-network cost sharing (for example, your in-network deductible and out-of-pocket maximum.) Be sure to find out if your doctor is in your plan's network.
We are MNsure certified brokers and can help guide you through the process of applying and enrolling into a qualified health plan using Minnesota's health insurance marketplace.
Businesses with 50 employees, or fewer, can offer Small Business Health Option Plans to their employees, starting any month of the year.
